5 Lamps Festival, Connolly House, Dublin
A collaboration with instrument maker Andrew Ilsley. This musical table is inspired by the mbira dza vadzimu, a beautiful instrument from Zimbabwe made from forged steel and often falsely believed in the West to be made out of knives and forks.
Our musical table is made from cutlery flattened and bolted onto a kitchen table. It sits up to 8 improvisers. The table offers a non verbal alternative to conversation. It was made for the visitors to the Five Lamps Festival to encourage improvisation and spontaneous connexions.
